Nestled in the scenic landscape of Shanxi, China, Shaz comprises 88 sustainably designed apartments as part of a local 'eco-tourism' initiative. The form of the building is loosely tied to the undulating profile of the surrounding mountainous ranges, and is highly responsive to the existing contours of the site, creating a harmonious blend with the natural environment. Designed using locally sourced natural materials, the building is intended to age gracefully with the seasons, ensuring it fits comfortably within its context and enhances the beauty of its setting over time.
